Technical Writing
Project Overview
The purpose of this group project was to create a document or website answering the deceivably easy question, "What is Technical Communication?". This project was completed by: Kaylani Carlo, Makayla Clark, and Sherry Carswell.

My Contribution
I contributed to creating the website using a template on Webflow. Much of my responsibility was maintaining the website and writing the careers section of the blog.
Project Background
The Technical Communication (TCOM) Blog was a group project for TCOM: Ethics, Theory, and Practice. The blog attempts to answer, What is Technical Communication? The blog features information about ethics in TCOM and the Society of Technical Communication (STC), careers, and history.
Although there is no clear-cut answer to this question, we attempted to answer it in different ways. We referenced some websites and articles from our readings in this class to create the website.
Programs used: Webflow, Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop
Project Goals
- Apply what we learned in TCOM to a website or document.
- Define what is TCOM.
- Explain the different implications of TCOM.
Method
Before we decided what content to add to our website, we divided up the topic of TCOM into four sections: Principles, History, Careers, and Ethics. We decided to merge Principles and Ethics because those two sections were similar.
For history, we decided to tell the story of TCOM in chronological order from the B.C.s, the Industrial Era, and the Modern Era.
My section was 'Careers', I focused on the versatility of TCOM and how much the average salary per year is for positions.
The salaries listed on the page are from Glassdoor.com. I also went in-depth on each position's responsibilities and skills.
Our team met up at least two to three times a week, giving each other feedback, editing pages, and learning about Webflow's capabilities.

Key Takeaways
When I first transferred into the TCOM program at Kennesaw State University, I only had surface knowledge as to what it was. Despite the classes I have taken, this course has taught me and my group members the convoluted topic of TCOM and Technical Writing. At the end of the day, there is no right or wrong answer to the question "What is TCOM?".
This field branches out into different sectors of study like technology, medicine, business, etc. Because of that, we had to cover a lot of information in a short amount of time to account for this. Also, I was very grateful to learn about Webflow's full capabilities when it came to creating blogs on the website!
